Starting a business from the ground is hard. My business is a mixture of baked goods, canned jams and jellies, home decor, other items that I hand made which include sewn items, crocheted items, handmade jewelry, and more! I've been trying to figure out what is best to draw in new customers and I think I have possibly figured what will work best for my farmstand end as well as the microbakery and online sales.

When I first started I set up my website: wynnssweettreats.com right away and began advertising that in person and on social media in addition to ordering business cards that I designed and giving them out. I was opening my farmstand Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and filling it with LOTS of baked goods.

The problem is that not many people know that I am here and those who have learned about me or passed by and seen my sign are driving too fast to stop. The reason why is because I don't have enough signage and the sign right in front of my house is small and hard to read. My goal to address that is to make a larger sign, repaint the existing sign which is two signs sandwiched together, and use those with one going in each direction up the road so people know that they are coming up on my home.

The 2nd problem is that baking so much caused a lot of waste. I gave some away to allow people to sample my baked goods in the hope to get more orders. My solution to that is to bake much less so I don't have as much waste.

The 3rd issue is not many customers at all stopping at the farmstand but again part of that is needing better signage The other solution for getting my name out there more and gaining more customers is that I am going to only open the stand on Sundays from noon to 4pm. The original plan was to open only on Saturdays and Sundays. Instead of opening on Saturdays I am going to set up in different places which is called a pop up event. The location dates and times I am going to set up will be announced on my Wynn's Sweet Treats facebook page. As business grows i will THEN begin to open the farmstand on other days as well. Meanwhile my website is always open for orders. I look forward to baking for you and/or seeing you are the farmstand!
